A-1 Tires Limited was established in October of 1978, a local family owned and operated business started by Frank Atkinson in a single bay building just outside Truro in Onslow.

Frank Atkinson, 81, founder and part owner passed away Jan.30, 2015 after a short illness. Frank had been involved in the tire industry for over sixty years. A-1 Tires has grown each year with the help of their hardworking staff and loyal customers. The business expanded into the current location February, 1987 with two service bays and warehouse space. The following year two more service bays were added to accommodate light mechanical services to complement tire sales and service (ie. wheel alignment, brake service, motor vehicle inspections, oil/lube, suspension and steering repairs)

Currently we have eight service bays to provide full tire service (passenger, light truck and medium truck, farm, Industrial, lawn/garden and high speed trailer tires) and light mechanical work. Our most recent expansion in 2005 added four service bays, a larger sales area and a spacious waiting room with TV and free wi-fi.

We specialize in hard to find sizes and take pride in satisfying our customers with products and service they require. We have a mobile service truck available during regular business hours for our commercial accounts.
